Soya Chunks Masala Curry

Ingredients
  1. Soya Chunks - 1 cup
  2. Salt - 1/4 Tsp
  3. Onion - 2 Medium
  4. Tomato - 1 Big
  5. Potato - 2 Big
  6. Green Chilly - 3
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
  8. Red Chilly powder - 1 Tbsp
  9. Coriander powder - 1 Tbsp
  10. Pepper powder - 1 Tsp
  11. Water - 1 cup
  12. Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  13. Garam Masala - 1/4 Tsp
  14. Mutton Masala/Chicken Masala - 1 Tbsp
  15. Salt - as needed
For Tempering
  1. Oil - 1 Tbsp
  2. Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp
  3. Dry Red Chilly - 2
  4. Curry Leaves - 2 Sprigs
  5. Coriander leaves - 1 Sprig

Preparation
  • Boil 3 cups of water in a pan. Add soya chunks and salt. Cook for 20-25 minutes.
  • When cooked, drain it and squeeze the water with your hand when cold. 
  • Grind the grated coconut to a smooth paste.
  • In a cooker, add soya chunks and all other ingredients from onion to water.Cook it for two whistles.
  • Add coconut paste, check salt.Let it boil.
  • Now add Garam Masala and Mutton/Chicken Masala. Mix well.Let it cook for 5-8 minutes.Add curry Leaves. Off the flame.
  • Heat oil for tempering, throw in mustard seeds, let it splutter, add dry red chilly and curry leaves.
  • Pour it onto the curry. Add chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with chappathi, vellayappam , parotta....poori's..

Note
  • You can add coconut milk, instead of coconut paste.
